Prince George, B.C.- The three doctors who will be inducted into the Northern Medical Hall of Fame this year area: Dr. Eldon Lee, Dr. Fergus Ducharme, and Dr. John Mackenzie.
The trio will be recognized at this year’s Dr. Bob Ewert Memorial Lecture and Dinner which is set for April 4th.
The guest lecturer this year is Canadian journalist and documentarian, Gwynne Dyer.
He will base his address on his new book “Climate Wars” which deals with the geo-political implications of climate change.
Proceeds from the event will support a Nursing Fund in the Northern Medical Programs Trust, and the Bob Ewert Memorial Lecture endowment which is held by the Prince George Community Foundation.

Dr. Fergus Ducharme: when you retired, we lost one hell of a good doctor. Talented as the day is long, and just as down-to-earth as the guy selling turnips at the grocery store.

I wonder what it was that encouraged people like him to come to the north, all those years ago? Whatever it was, should be given to a lot of other doctors, entering their working years, who don't seem to want to come to these communities anymore.

I think its great that three well known and talented doctors are being recognized for their contributions. However, I wonder what relevance a speaker like Gwyn Dyer, who will probably charge a significant amount for delivering his lecture and, no doubt, promote his book, has on this auspicious event.

Haven't we got any local individuals who can bring a local perspective to this occasion?
