Tom Madden Will Be Missed

By Ben Meisner

I will be very unhappy to see Tom Madden retiring from the City of Prince George.

Now that is a tall order coming from me, but I for one, over the past decade have had an opportunity to follow and watch Madden at work.

To a fault, Tom Madden did and has always, returned my phone calls. For many of those calls he surely was aware that I had the cross hairs on him, but it didn’t matter, Madden had a point to make and he was never afraid to make it. I’ve got lots of time for a guy like that.

I have had dealings with Tom Madden over the 18 years he spent with the city and while I didn’t always get the answer that I wanted, he sure as hell wasn’t afraid to make the Citiy's position known.

Will he be missed?  Absolutely.  He is one of the dying breed who are not afraid to stand up, take your lumps and make your point and stand your ground. In today’s society it is more fitting to stand up, spin the story, tell the prepared line and never admit you were wrong.

You folks over at the Hall may not spend a  long time finding someone to fill Madden's post,  but I doubt you will ever be able to find someone who can fill his shoes.

I’m Meisner and that’s one man’s opinion.
