"The Beaverly Volunteer Fire Department  serves 800 homes in about 500 square kilometers, while the emergency rescue service  handles all of Area C which is 2500 square kilometers" says Kaehn.

The new facility will also be an alternate emergency command centre for the Regional District should something happen in the downtown core to  render the existing Regional District Offices unavailable.

Has anyone ever seen anyone using the audible street crossing system?????
Jay Hill's announcement - so why is Pat Bell / Shirley Bond in the picture? Oh yes, elections are coming up in the near future. Where was John Rustad - late!

Palopu - yes - I have seen people using the audible street crossing system. I see nothing wrong with it. Hopefully they will add to it "watch out for the potholes - 2 feet in front of you, one to the left, anther ..."
Gee, it is to much to expect to wonder who the other people are in the photo? One is left to assume they are the ones providing the services. Or, is this just a photo opp for those handing out the money?
One would hope if audible street crossing programing is going in that would also include a general upgrade to the whole street light programming... which is badly needed here in PG the nations stop light capital.

This is a good investment... photo opt or not. If only for the highway rescue aspect of it on one of the busiest two lane highways in the province... as well as the bush roads in the area.
