Gaming Grants for Capital Projects Detailed

Prince George, B.C. -  Five Prince George organizations are among the  30  province wide to recieve  capital grants from gaming.  As was announced last weekend, the Prince George Hospice Society  was to recieve $100 thousand dollars,  the others  on the list are:

  • Prince George BC New Hope Recovery Society 100,000.00
  • Prince George Beaverly Community Association 21,000.00
  • Prince George Cerebral Palsy Association of Prince George and District 100,000.00
  • Prince George St Francis of Assissi Conference of St Vincent de Paul 23,432.00

As well, two  rganizations in Ft.St john  are receiving grants:

  • Fort St. John Fort St. John Women's Resource Society 33,712.00
  • Fort St. John North Peace Historical Society 100,000.00
 
A total of $3.5 million in gaming grants is being distributed for major capital projects this year. Major capital project grants are just part of the $152 million that approximately 6,800 community organizations shared in fiscal 2008/09 from gaming revenues.
        
Through the Province’s major capital project grant program, non-profit organizations can apply for funds to build a new facility, or to renovate or maintain an existing one to support their community based programs. To be eligible, they must deliver existing programs that benefit their communities, and the project must be accessible to the public and maintained on an ongoing basis. Grants of up to $100,000 are available to fund up to 50 per cent of the total cost of projects valued at $20,000 or more. Applicants must secure the remainder of the project funding before applying.
