Sindi Hawkins Battles Cancer Again

Provincial MLA Sindi Hawkins, is  once again battling cancer.

Premier Gordon Campbell released the following statement today on Kelowna-Mission MLA Sindi Hawkins:

"It is with a heavy heart that we've learned our good friend and colleague Sindi Hawkins is once again fighting to overcome the challenges she faces with leukemia. She will start treatment in the coming weeks.

"As she leaves to pursue the treatment she needs, I want Sindi to know that the thoughts, prayers, and support of her friends in the B.C. Legislature and across British Columbia are with her at this difficult
time.

"Sindi has done incredible work for her province and community over the past 13 years as both a minister and MLA. She has been a powerful voice raising awareness and support with the B.C. Cancer Foundation and as an
advocate for blood and bone marrow donation.

"We'll miss Sindi in the Legislative Assembly, and we look forward to seeing her when she overcomes this illness. At this time Sindi's family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the BC
Cancer Foundation's Sindi Hawkins and Friends education endowment fund."
