Air Canada should not get any bailout type handouts from the government. Their very poor customer relation policies and practices have gotten them into trouble as much as the economy has.
I dont know of anyone who chooses to fly Air Canada, unless there is no WestJet flight when they need it.
Why are we rewarding poor management with taxpayer's money???

Absolutely! Air Canada has dug it's own hole, and they should figure out how to get out of it. I am one of those people who wishes WestJet would fly to my town so I wouldn't have to deal with AC anymore!

LET THEM ALL FAIL!
They did not share profits with tax payers!
Tax payers ARE NOT liable for their mismanagement and greed.
They all dug their own graves.
yes, there will be labor casualties, but they will survive and some will thrive with new opportunities.

You are right, Loki. Although a lot of folks will be out of work if the giants topple, a great many people in various industries are already having to find employment, plus all those whose jobs with the major corporations are being cut anyway, in their vain effort to stay in the black. These corporate bailouts never ever ensure the long term viability of a corporation IMHO, workers' jobs are the first to be cut the next time things get lean, and the bigwigs always seem to retain their gold plated salaries, benefits, and pensions. Why succesive governments cannot see the pattern is beyond me, unless they are all in bed together.
