Not that I am in agreement because I am not.
The actual words were forced marital sex, Not rape.
Either way is wrong in our culture.
Really though, this problem could be fixed without war and bloodshed.
If Islam wants to treat their women this way, let's just enable an underground to help the women get out of their homeland, and leave the men to force sex on each other.
Two problems solved: Muslim women no longer treated as chattel, and a dramatic reduction in the Muslim population.
No expensive missiles, no casualties, nothing but helping the fairer gender gain equality and freedom and hardcore Muslim men getting what they deserve.
This whole situation has cut right to my core. Why are we fighting for a country which regards their women as less than dogs. It amazes me to no end that this sort of thing is still being allowed anywhere on this planet.

I am all for pulling our Canadian troops out of Afghanistan immediately.
metalman.
Hey Loki, what exactly do you think forced sex is? And no, oil has nothing to do with Afghanistan.
Maybe all the drug addicted feminists can boycott Afghan drugs. That oughta show those Afghans.
I underunderstand why some would have issue with my clarification, and yes forced sex is by definition rape. However, this new legislation may have the implication of rape but not the words, it was intended to reintroduce shira (spelling is wrong) law to an Islamic country where the women have few if any rights. The legislation also specified between a husband and wife. Not that anyone with an opinion would differentiate, forced compliance is still rape. The cartoonist took a little bit of liberty with the words to make his point.

If not oil, why are the developed nations (g20 and the U.N.) in the middle east, spending trillions of your dollars and sacrificing your sons and daughters?
They do not have vast fields of food stuffs, very few other natural resources. There has never been a war in history that had nothing to do with resources and today the most valued resource is energy with petroleum being the most valued.

I have no issue with being corrected or even laughed at for my opinion(250)s, but at least provide some substance to your statements.
Afghanistan has a long history of mistreating their women and citizens. The Canadian Government was fully aware of what was happening in this Country long before the Taliban. We never made any attempt to do anything about it when the Taliban was in power for 6 years. Nor did we pay any attention when they were fighting the Russians for 10 years.

Canada sent troops to Afghanistan on the request of the Americans, and also because some Canadians were killed during 9/11. The mission was to get Osama Bin Laden. The Taliban wouldnt turn him over to the Americans, so they attacked the Country. Most people have forgotten, (if they even knew) that the Taliban offered to turn Ben Laden over to a third Country, but the offer was refused by the Americans.

There was at one time a big push to build an oil pipeline from the huge oil deposits in the Caspian Sea, through Afghanistan, and Pakistan, to the Arabian Sea, to sell oil and gas to India. The Americans wanted to build the pipeline, and the Taliban wanted some concessions, which the Americans refused. It was shortly after that, that all hell broke loose.

You can decide for yourself why troops are in Afghanistan, and the Russians before them, however you can rest assured that it had nothing to do with democracy, or womens rights. This all came later, as an excuse to stay in the country.

According to military personnel I know that have been to this hell hole, it's not only their wives they force to have sex with. They also enjoy the company of very young boys.
Palopu is right... he's talking about Bridas Corp of Argentina that had the taliban agreement for the Caspian Sea Pipeline. This was unacceptable for Dick Cheney and his oil friends... I do believe they settled out of court after the invasion. I think the pipeline goes online later this year.
I'd like to see our troops pack up and come home. I believe the very next day after NATO pulls out the countrys gonna be back to square one. The only good thing about our troops bein over there now doing what their doing is they are provided with fairly decent equipment. Not like in the begining with jungle camo and them neat tarps to hide under. No bullets...untill the minister of defense touched down in country for a very short visit....then he had French troops for protection....anyone remember that?? Thank god for the U.S. in the beginning...and their well equipped army who supplied our guys with everything from boots to bullets. The Liberals of the time wouldn't even allow a couple of Canadians to accept medals from the U.S. for bravery ( A sniper team who have the record for the longest shot..yup Canadians)...I believe the bronze star. This is just a little of the B.S. of how our government of the time treated our troops. You gotta give these girls and guys the utmost respect for the job they're up against. Bring em home!
I second that Yellow

BRING OUR PEOPLE HOME NOW!!!
At least while they are in the service. they don't have to worry about getting or keeping employed.

I still think Canada does not belong in this.

9-11 was perpetrated by the USA government so they could invade. The participants were employed by the CIA and supplied by the CIA with USA ordinance. In fact several received US passports only days prior to the event.

Don't just shout that I am wrong. Prove me wrong! I dare you.
