Prince George, B.C.- The Air Quality Advisory remains in effect, and will  be in effect until at least 9:30 tomorrow morning.

Based on the air quality data, the high levels are mainly due to road dust with some contribution for combustion emissions (smoke) this morning. Stagnant conditions are expected over the region tonight, however, there is a slight chance of some light precipitation late this evening or tonight. The 24 hour PM10 rolling average was 50 µg/m3 at the Plaza 400 downtown site at 4:00 pm, 50 µg/m3 at BCR and 27 µg/m3 at College Heights. The 24 hour PM2.5 rolling average was 9 µg/m3 at the Plaza 400 downtown site and 6 µg/m3 at College Heights.

This Air Quality Advisory is expected to be in effect until further notice, with an update to be provided tomorrow morning at 9:30 am.

Saw some tourists from the US wearing those disposible nose and mouth masks. They said they couldn't wait to get out of town. Good luck tourism PG.
road dust doesnt smell like sulphur
when will they ever learn?
There is no doubt that a big part of the pollution this week is road dust. Just look around, its pretty obvious.

Insofar as the buses go, the ones I seen to-day are just as empty as the ones I have been watching for years. As a general rule passengers on buses in this town are as scarce as hens teeth.

BC Transit is another monster built by the Government and it lives on tax dollars.

Agreed Palopu. We call out industry when it's obvious that they are the ones creating the bad air on certain days, so let's do the same for the City themselves. No doubt IMHO that road dust was the main culprit recently.
Now if the city would use some common sence and blow the dust off their steet sweepers and start sweeping IN THE RAIN to keep road dust down. But noooo they'll wait for the hottest day of the year to do that.
