There may be an argument made that we can afford to send three councilors and the Mayor to a meeting in say Vancouver to discuss issues that affect this side of the country, but a trip to Newfoundland? That just happens to be a little shy of 10,000 kilometers away.

Mayor Kinsley, Councilors Don Basserman, Murry Krause, and Cliff Dezell are all there on our tab. We were told when the Mayor and the City Manager traveled to Ottawa last fall, (surprisingly during Grey Cup week and more surprising that they attended the function) that they had made great strides in Ottawa. We have two MP’S from this region they failed to even talk to one of them (MP D ick Harris) during that trip. Just what are we about to learn in St. John's, that the whales are migrating, that the Rock has excellent sea food, or the migration of shore birds is under way?
Given the lack of a forest on the island and the fact  we are being wiped clean in this city by beetles, the four of them could have spent our money trying to seek some answers to what obviously will be a serious problem.

Our history at these types of events has not gone unnoticed. One Prince George contingent was threatened with being evicted from a hotel in Whistler during a similar type of meet, and each year in the past, the taxpayers have footed the bill for a hospitality room and for whom?

I got my tax notice the other day from Cache Creek, taxes there, (as the mayor stated) are going down. That’s right ,down. But more over, has anyone been to Grande Prairie lately to see what Prince George might do to try and recover some of lost revenue that will come as a result of CN re opening the Peace country link between BC and Alberta?  Now if you think the lumber will flow from say Ft. Nelson to Prince George and then on to Chicago, take two aspirin, and go to bed early. The majority of the traffic from Northern BC will flow through Alberta. And who was it again that supported that sale?

In addition , maybe the four can stop in Victoria, or heaven forbid, right here in Prince George and try to arrange a meeting with the forest leaders and owners  to see what we can do to prevent the economy going into the toilet when our forests have been wiped clean by beetles . There are already comments coming from the forest industry leaders that we will hit the wall within the next seven to ten years in the forest industry and anyone who clings to the notion that we are not forest dependent in this region should take a trip….. A trip say to Newfoundland, where they don’t have a beetle problem and the sea food is great.

Rather than these guys going out to Newfie land on our nickel why don't we (the city of P.G.)host the party next year,we could do it right around Canada day,so when all the mayors and councillors from across the country come and inevitably ask the question...why are the trees so red,we could then tell them that we had them painted to celebrate the holiday.
Once landed we could shuttle them into town so Collin and Murray could show them how to really develop a downtown, ie pawn shops, homeless shelters and soup kitchens, then he could drive them all up to the casino(you know, really wow them)
I wonder if by then, that the casino will have all the stucco or brick work done. Then after these guys and gals have all blown their wad's, they could all go for a tour of P.G.,I can just hear the loud speaker on the bus, little Collin saying don't worry folks we didn't just a dead moose on the road ,that was just a little pothole we seem to have a few.....
Rock, about that casino, your right. Half completed building and no landscaping? Meanwhile they're raking in millions of PG consumption dollars, and returning nothing to the community but for broken families and broken dreams. Thanks for keeping on top of things Colin.

PS don't they make enough they can pay for thier own holidays? I think the gentleman talking about efficiency the other day has a good point to make.
Hi Ben,The waste of taxpayers funds By elected officials and family would be sicking if one was two take the time and audit it.I bet it would blow you away.I am in the tourism industry and most of my clients ask me what kind of trees are those red ones?I have to say dead wasted trees.Or fire wood is another good one.I also believe that CN will run one train over that connector and then say its not feasible and shut it down. The lost revenue happened when Campbell gave BC rail away to CN.Mr Kinsley would be upset if he looked carfully to how many X BC Rail employees are left or NOT! More to come on this CN deal cause I have lots to say about that but need more to back up what I say about that screwed up mess Mr Campbell has caused. Now on the property tax issue wouldnt you think that with all the schools the liberals has closed and all those teacher that ended up in the unemployment line wouldnt you think that the school levy and property tax would go down to reflect those saveings? Is that too much common sence thinking or what?
Can someone help me out here?Bennie, you are probably the guy that would know.
Whose responsability is it to look after the the potholes in this town?provincial ,federal or municiple? The next question is,who is liabel if say a motorcycle hit one of these holes lost control and left his wife and kids to fend for themselves for the rest of there lives? I was driving northbound on foothills on the weekend and mygod, the pot holes are unbelivable,In my opinion I'm thinking that this is a municiple problem so the head of the municipality should be the guy that gets the heat for this ie lil Colin. We are now in June the snow is gone the frost has left the ground so where are the city crews that are supposed to be fixing these holes?I think that we need to make a concerted effort to make this an issue when it comes time to re-elect a mayor. And just so you know lil Colin,I didn't vote for you last time either, but not to worry Colin I'm sure you will be able to land a consulting gig with someone
