Williams Lake, B.C.- There is good news for Tolko’s Lakeview mill workers, that mill reopens Monday after being shut down since February 9th.

The company says it will resume normal operations with 2 shifts in the sawmill, and what ever is needed in the planer mill.

It means just over 200 workers will be heading back to their jobs.

Tolko says the demand has finally outpaced supply enough to warrant bringing one mill back on stream. The Creekside and Soda Creek Mills remain idle.

Lets hope this is a sign of recovery in the forest industry. (fingers crossed)
After a 10 week shut down I hope it has a fighting chance of staying open
As for a "sign of recovedry" I believe that is still a year off but hope I am wrong
I just hope that it is one year and not 10.
One mill reopening is one small step. Lets hope more open soon (especially the McKennzie mills).
This will be short term until the supply is greater than the demand again.
Well hallelujah! Nice to hear some good news in the forest industry for a change. Just in time for Canfor to put the rumors to rest and announce the up and coming closure.
Oh oh and don't forget this also comes on the tails of the bankruptcy of Abitbi, how many jobs will eventually be lost in that mess?

Not that I'm a half empty kind of person......
askrik...what's this rumor about Canfor announcing a closure? I've heard they may have more 1 & 2 week curtailments this year but they are not planning on closing anymore mills. They have contracts that they have to honour or so we are being told at work.
