Jim Steele, Meteorologist with Environment Canada says April was a ho-hum month for Prince George although rainfall was slightly above normal and a little cooler than usual. Here is his report:
April 2009 The month got off to a very auspicious start with cool very unsettled conditions for the first 4 days. Snowfall occurred on the first 2 days of the month with the coldest reading during the month on the 4th at -11.7. Conditions returned to a much more tranquil nature shortly after with yet another cool unsettled period between the 9th and the 14th with more wet snow and rain. A quiet period followed then the big rains arrived on the 19th and presided for another 2 days, bringing just over 19 mm for the 3 day period. The last week of the moth returned to close to normal on the temperature side of things with generally dry conditions.
Precipitation was on again off again for most of the month with the last week seeing a drying trend. Rainfall was slightly above normal while snowfall was pretty close to the longer term normal.
Into the record books, it was a below normal month on the temperature side of the ledger with precipitation coming in on the high side, slightly wetter than normal.

- Coldest day on the 4th with an overnight minimum of -11.7 degrees

- Total precipitation of 38.0 mm was above the normal of 32.2 mm.
- Total Snowfall of 6.8 cm was near the normal of 6.3 cm
- Total rainfall of 32.6 mm was above the normal of 25.9 mm
- Measurable precipitation on 11 days near the normal of 10 days
- Greatest snowfall one day 4.8 cm on the 2nd
- Greatest rainfall one day 12.8 mm on the 20th
