Prince George, B.C.- Dry weather over the weekend allowed for twelve new fires starts in the Prince George Fire Centre, bringing the total to 33 fires since April 15th.

The majority of the fires were human caused while others are under investigation. The Prince George Fire Centre continues to urge people to use extreme caution when doing any outside burning. Wind can be a powerful, unpredictable factor in the spread of fires. As well extra caution should be taken while driving as to not throw cigarette butts or matches out the window.

There is one fire of note located 6.5 kilometres southwest of Cecil Lake in the Fort St. John zone. The fire is 40 hectares in size and is not contained at this moment. There are two homes in the vicinity and helicopter support is being used to prevent the loss of these structures. There are three helicopters, 15 firefighters, two tank trucks, and air tankers suppressing this fire.

Weather throughout the week is expected to remain mainly dry leaving the Prince George Fire Centre in a moderate fire danger rating.

I see lots of smokers chucking their butts out the window while driving, you blow your horn at them and they give you the one finger salute. They don't have a clue.
I wonder if car manufacturers are unwittingly contributing to this problem by not installing ashtrays in vehichles.
Gotta be pretty stupid to throw a lit cigarette out the car window. The same goes for burning your grass on a windy day, or not extinguishing a camp fire.

I somehow missed some hot weather?
