Prince George, B.C.- Gordon Campbell has scored a three-peat.
In his victory speech, he started off by thanking all the British Columbians who went out to vote regardless of who they voted for.
He thanked Carole James, the Leader of the New Democrats for calling him and agreed this is the time for everyone to work together “We have to remember this is about our kids and grand kids and making it better for them.”
He offered thanks to the volunteers who worked so hard to bring out a constructive message about how to make B.C. stronger.
“I think tonight is a night too that British Columbians should be proud.” He said the ballot reaffirmed there were steps that had to be taken, that may not have been easy to take, but that the steps had to be taken because they were the right steps. That was a reference to the carbon tax which was thought to have been a real threat to the Liberal candidates in the rural parts of the province.
He promised to work hard to help boost economic diversity in all parts of the province, and thanked each candidate and their families, for all their contributions.
“ Naturally I want to say thank you to my family particularly to Nancy, Jeff and Nicholas for standing by me for the 25 years I have been in politics, without the support of my family I could not be here tonight and I want to thank each of you.”
