Prince George, B.C.- The shutdowns and curtailments in the B.C. lumber industry continue. This time, news that Tolko workers at the stud mills in Kelowna and Armstrong will be of the job as of Monday June 8th.
The shut down will impact more than 355 employees and is supposed to last at least a week, but there is no telling how long it will go on as management says the closure will be reviewed on a week to week basis.
In addition to the low demand for product because of the slump in the U.S. housing market, the rising Canadian dollar is also having a negative impact on the woods industry.
