Offer pending on  Chances Bingo Hall  in downtown Prince George.
Prince George, B.C. – The owner of the Chances Bingo/gaming centre downtown says he has a deal pending for the purchase of that building.

John Major says the offer is not from the City, and he hopes to be able to go public with details in the not too distant future. Major released that information as he was preparing to celebrate the opening of the new gaming centre at the Treasure Cove Casino.

The new facility has 424 seats. When there are big special bingos, the show lounge at the Treasure Cove can be used to accommodate a further 200 bingo players.

Built at a cost of one million dollars, it replaces the activity that used to take place at the Chances Gaming Centre at 7th Avenue and Quebec Street downtown. That facility (which cost about $17 million dollars) officially closed its doors at the end of gaming on Saturday June 6th, a little more than 14 months after it had officially opened. At 30,000 square feet, that facility was deemed to be too big, too impersonal, and within three months of opening, owners John and Shelley Major were asking City Hall for permission to move the operations to a new facility to be added on to the Treasure Cove Casino at highways 16 and 97.

Major says the addition of the bingo facility at the Treasure Cove meant the addition of restaurant staff, and a redesign of the slot and gaming tables area. It also meant a new ($150,000.00) canopy was constructed outside the Casino.

Below,  the finishing touches are being put in place for the  new bingo area of the Treasure Cove Casino.

I'm pretty sure the addition is a heck of a lot more than a million dollars. Likely in the range four million by the time you put in all the security, and the likes.
What I would like to know is what happened to the condo's Mayer was suppose to build in order to build this building? Why isnt the contract being enforced?
money talks others walk
The investigation into our former Mayors connections remains ongoing. This is not a dead issue.
I am sure a permit on one million is way less than a permit on four million.
You will never see Condos on that site. Majors can pretty well do what he wants and the city will cover it up for him.
If any real conractor in this city tried to get away with the barricade (snow fence) like he had set up the city or WCB would shut the site down. The whole construction site for the addition is a joke and an eye sore. Thats what happens when a home builder tries his hand at commercial construction. Lots of gaming revenue comes right back to the city.

Wait for the announcement of who is buying, it may solve the situation.

Technically speaking, I would think that a new owner would have to honour the intent of that agreement, but that depends on the exact wording of the agreement or condition which may be registered against the contract with the gaming centre.
Yeah, don't rock the gravy boat, you might get burned. To be fair, Master Majors does apparently use local contractors for the buildings in his empire. And if the condos don't get built, so what?
metalman.
Still looks to me like an inside out tin can attacked enthusiastically by a deranged artist.
I agree Harbinger. Who would buy this ugly building????

Maybe they will do a Major renovation.
I agree too. Ugly is a nice word compared to what my wife called it.
I heard it was designed by the Prince George Design Panel.
