Invitation Out for Trees for Tomorrow Planting

Prince George, B.C – The City of Prince George is sending out an invitation to all residents to come and take part in a multi day, planting project.
The main kick-off event will take place at 2pm on Friday, June 26th at Rainbow Park with local dignitaries.
In addition to seedlings, the City will be planting larger potted trees and tracking their success through their Tree Inventory.
Facilitated by the Youth Climate Leadership Alliance, the City has received a grant from the provincial “Trees for Tomorrow” program to purchase the plants and the mulch. Spruce, birch, fir, elm, maple, ginko, larch trees, as well as lilac, nine bark and a few other shrub species will be planted.
Workshops and worm composting demonstrations will be taking place, and fun kids’ activities will be ongoing to keep everyone entertained. Water and Popsicles will be offered for hard working planters and their families.
Tree planting is set for the following days and times:

Friday June 26th from 1pm to 4pm at Rainbow Park;

Saturday June 27th from 10am to 1pm at Rainbow Park; and
-
Sunday June 28th from 1pm to 4pm at Strathcona Park (adjacent to the community gardens near Upland and Milburn Streets).
