It is called "Catnip" and is a  rare rag top for a 1970 Cougar.
Prince George, B.C.- It was another picture perfect day for the  Father’s Day Show ‘n Shine and a hit at it’s new location.
This was the first year for the show at the Pine Centre Mall, and mall  General Manager, Rick Nelson  is thrilled “It has been an absolutely fantastic day” says Nelson.
He has already been taking some notes on how things can be made even better for next year. “We’ve been taking notes and I think next year, the motorcycles will be indoors, along with the winners from this year.” He also says there is a good chance the show will be spread out a bit more.
More than 200 vehicles were entered in this year’s show, and there was something for everyone.
Here are some of Opinion 250’s favourites:
Calvin Marsolais of Prince George, owns this 965 Ford Ranger,  which sports a wooden steering wheel:
Then there was this 1970 Dodge Charger owned by David Schriver of Prince George:
This  2007 Harley Davidson  Heritage Soft tail  is a  limited edition Canadian model owned by  Todd Johnson of Williams Lake:
Everything old is new again in these two  Ford Coupes, the one on the left with the fancy  flames is a 1934 Ford Coupe owned by Dustin Meroniuk, while the one on the right is  a 1932 model owned by Sandra and Duane Harvey:
On hand were buses, and go carts, race cars, right hand drive vehicles, even a John Deer tractor!  This one, a 1952 model, owned by John Viney of Prince George:

It was fantastic except for the crazy parking all over the place. Somewhat surprised tow trucks weren't out making big money today.

People should not be parking all along the highway and on the sides of the on and off ramps or along the access roads to the parking lot for this event.

If there isn't enough room to park the attraction and park the visitors, the location is not suitable.
People were also parked in the parking lot adjacent to Tim Horton's.

It is the first time I ever attended that event. I attended it for the purpose of finding out how the shopping centre would handle a popular event that would reduce parking space while generating more parking just for the additional use of the attendees.

The centre used to have tons of parking space. With the recent addition of moving uses to small building islands in a sea of blacktop the excess space has been reduced considerably and is sitting at an acceptable level until one removes more space for special use events.

I assume that the reason they accepted this event move was on the assumption that the merchants would be positively affected. I wonder if that is true. I suspect the opposite might be true. That is likely why the manager is looking at putting the bikes inside the next time, to draw people into the building. Why else would he want to do that?

Beautiful day out. Lots of people enjoying themselves. Obviously a very popular event. So why would it be there instead of the Exhibition Grounds is my question.
I noticed the RCMP were there doing PR. Letting the kiddies operate the siren and lights. Too bad the Mounties couldn't have displayed non-lethal tazerings on some people to show how harmless tasers are and maybe try to get some of their credibility back.
This was a tough day for people who wanted to park and either (a) Go to Work, or (b) Go shopping. Many people including myself just said to hell with it, and got the hell out of there.

Exhibition Grounds would have been a lot better place to have this gig. Maybe next year it will be back downtown.
On the other hand the show was good. And at the right price too, but I have to agree parking was where you found it. No benches because they promote loitering I guess. No one selling cold drinks or popcorn or other crap? Maybe next year.
jeez louise , some people just cant say a good thing without a bad one. I went there to see the cars, not critique the parking arrangements. The show was a success, nuff said.
It was an awesome show! More like close to 400 cars on display and thousands of people enjoying the day. I'm sure the stores in the Pine Center Mall were busy as well.
Congratulations to the Crusin Classics on your new venue. It was an awesome show.
I thought it was great! Just to be out of the downtown and not pay a $2 "donation" to get in was worth having to park over at Tim Horton's. I don't think I've seen this many people at the Show 'n' Shine for years.

As far as the parking problem, anyone who has lived in PG for more than a week can realize that taking up all that space for the displays is going to result in a challenge to find a spot to park. Hopefully the mall merchants benefited from all the extra traffic.
"Hopefully the mall merchants benefited from all the extra traffic."

That is what it should be all about, shouldn't it be? It is a SHOPPING mall, after all, not an exhibition space.

John Majors should maybe pull the event over to his Casino parking lot. See how that affects his "sales".

The event is/was a wonderful show. I think those people who took the time out to prepare their cars and show them while sitting there much of the day need a big round of applause. Have not heard much on here about recognizing that donation to the community.

I did not realize this has been going on for 35 years already. Must be one of the longest running, if not the longest, such event in PG - Oktoberfest, SnowGolf, Santa Claus Parade, and several others have bit the dust or shrunk to almost nothing.

Congratulations to those who have been the organizers over the years to get it this far.

It is the location that I think can be improved.

It would be interesting to know how well the food court did. It is a long walk from the east side of the Mall. If the bulk of the event were located on the west side then one would just have to walk in the doors and the food court is right there. Those should have been, and may have been, the merchants who benefitted the most with such an event right outside the doors.
Well done!!! by far a better location than the streets of the downtown! Wasn't afraid to leave the chairs and bag to wander round to oggle all the awsome iron in fear of the wandering street critters cartin it away. Sure didn't miss the urine and vomit smell in the doorways etc. either. Very well done!!
The stores in the mall were actually busy and some workers commented on how good the sales were compared to other Sundays.

There were some idiots that decided to park illegally, blocking in other vehicles.

It's nice to see Pine Centre Mall step up and allow the car club to use the parking lot, unlike the DBIA.

If this event was at the CN Centre, people would still be complaining about the parking - having to walk too far, etc.
I did appreciate the opportunity to actually see all of the vehicles displayed at the event. When it was downtown, some streets and vehicles displayed got missed.

To be fair, I also expected to pay something to help contribute to the cost of the event. I don't mind paying for an afternoon of enjoyment. I appreciate all of the people who took the time and made the effort to display their favourite vehicles for my pleasure.

Next year, I will bring my own Motorcycle and hopefully, be able to park it next to my son's favourite car. What a great Father's Day event. I have looked forward to this event and the Motorcycle Drags for years. That is not going to change. Thank you to everyone who make it happen. Thanks to Rick Nelson and the Pine Centre mall for allowing the use of their parking lot.

Ps. I don't think that the motorcycle enthusiasts would prefer to be inside the mall. I have a personal bias though.
