Prince George, B.C.- When it comes to home security, residents in Prince Gorge have been under pressure lately to switch from their existing alarm company.

In some cases, the home owner is pressured to sign a contract and provide a void cheque and the existing alarm system has been cut or a useless system installed. (see previous story ).

Those are not the normal methods used to sign up new customers says Scot Saul, Manager of A-Tech Security of Prince George who says there are some very easy, quick ways for a consumer to find out who is standing at their door. “First, I encourage them to check the yellow pages,  that’s where they will find the local companies.”

Then there is the matter of a licence.

Under B.C. law, anyone selling a security system must have a licence, and must produce that licence when requested to do so. “Our sales people wear their licence and identification on a lanyard around their neck. It is there for anyone to examine. Also, our sales people wear A-Tech Security clothing and the pamphlets they present have our company logo on them.”

Saul says this is not the first time out of town companies have come into Prince George on a sales blitz “In the past they have made offers of life time free service, well, once they leave town, there is no one here to service those customers.”

"Our sales people wear their licence and identification on a lanyard around their neck"

wouldn't take long to print one of those things off!
The company should give all their customers an access code . When a representative comes to their home, the Rep. for any sales or check-ups should have to prove to the home owner that they already know their access code. Company's should also promote safety at all times. If your in the security bizness and I'm buying your service, I expect to be secure LIKE MY BANK!
