Victoria, B.C.-  Premier Gordon Campbell has  passed along this Canada message:

"Canada Day is a time for all Canadians to come together and celebrate the things that make our country great. "We live in one of the most diverse societies anywhere in the world, built by explorers, traders, settlers, immigrants and First Nations. We are a free and democratic society, where we have the privilege of electing our governments with ballots, not bullets. We are an open and hospitable society, where people from all walks of life are welcomed and supported as they contribute to our multicultural mosaic.

"Canada Day is also a time to reflect on those who have fought to defend our shared freedom. From Vimy Ridge to the shores of Normandy to the men and women serving around the world today, their sacrifice has shaped the country we live in.

"In just 226 days, our province and our nation will welcome the world for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Together, we will showcase the people, culture and communities of Canada and B.C. to a global audience of billions. It will be a moment unlike any other in our history, and a proud time for all Canadians.

"We are fortunate to live in the Best Place on Earth, and on behalf of all British Columbians, I'd like to wish everyone a happy Canada Day."

And to help celebrate Gordo will now add the next carbon tax installment. Yeah Liberals!!!
Campbell, resign your criminal ass...
How can he be proven a criminal all the records from the computers regarding the BCR fiasco have gone missing... I guess they were deleted by mistake
You guys are too much.

Sure Campbell isn't perfect. But he's human. Nobody is perfect. I think we have to remember that as a Province we are moving forward. I couldn't say the same when it was the NDP. Of course it would be nice to have everybody working, but it seems to be a problem in every Province not just a BC problem.

Maybe you guys should also take a look at what people are saying about our political leaders back East. I was watching CBC who typically can't stop talking about Ottawa, and they actually said Campbell was doing some good things that were impressive. For example, taking the lead on the EI reform issue.

Happy Canada Day indeed!!!

Well, indeed, mwk! The first three posts could create the impression that it is National Hate Day in B.C.

Ah, well...whatever.
We pay 'more' to fill up the car, 'more' to heat our homes, and 'more' for the price of everything sold in BC that the latest increase in the "Carbon Tax" will flow through into, and you say, "...we're moving forward" ? We're going backwards!

Easy Green, impaired driving in the USA...criminal record...that make him a criminal...
If we are just going to sit by and accept this Carbon Tax imposed on us, we might as well accept it and shut up.

Or, do something about it. Somebody in this province is changing the rules that affect us every day. Why not contact them directly and present your concerns to them personally. They are called MLA's and you hired them to represent you and your riding. So, get with the program and talk to them rather than just belly aching on this site about it.
That's a good idea, Chester. If they're a Liberal MLA what you'll hear back from them is, "Thank you for your concern, public input is important to us in our governance of B C, but the Carbon Tax is here to stay because ...., blah, blah, blah blah, blah."

The only thing I can recall this government reversing course on, and then it took absolutely massive public protest to do it, was over the sale of the Coquihalla Highway.

But while we were all busy congratulating ourselves that we stopped that from happening, and, yes, the system does work, they upped the toll from $10 to $ 13. On a road that former Premier Bill Bennett publicly stated, (I heard him on TV with my two little ears), the tolls had paid for years ago! And they did that with nary a wimper of public protest, because we'd "spent our fire", and most people feel overwhelmed by anything to do with public finances anyways.

But don't get me wrong, I'm not being facetious, I still think it's a good idea. After all they are supposed to be "our" servants, not our masters.
He hasn't done anything but but take money from the poor and give it to the rich He is the Sherrif of Nothingham he should just resign his criminal ass as well as all his puppets in in his court this man is dangerous
you have seen noithing yet JustTheFacts...we still unfotunately have another four years of his stupid looking grin...and a lot more money from our pockets...just wait, the Olympics are ahead yet...wonder who's head he is going to try and put the flop/fiasco on...sure won't be his...
