While i disagree with the PG bashing , headshake might be right. We definately need to get some workable ideas together. For a start, it was not the way of the world where i grew up that a 17 year old could not walk around at 1:00 AM. Of course, i wasnt raised in PG. but i dont think PG needs to be that kind of place.
Heres my ideas:
Increase the probablity of being apprehended for the crime (everything from assault on up would get my vote for priority). How this is done is up to smarter folks than I .
Increase the consequences of conviction for serious crimes.
Drastically increase sentences for repeat offenders.
Improve attitude of canadas citizens regarding law and order/social responsibility. It wouldnt hurt to teach some right and wrong all the way through school. A little black and white instead of 'the world is grey' or 'i'm a victim, you're a victm, wouldnt you like to be a victim too'.
In truth i think the last point is the most important. I never assaulted, robbed or raped anyone in my life. Not because i was scared of being caught, but because it would be wrong to do so. If i could learn it, why cant other people?

Well there you have it again. Another crime committed against a woman who has no rights to defend herself with a fire-arm. We aren't even allowed to buy mace; only that 'bear spray' crap.The police can never be there except after the fact. There is a law in Canada that states any woman can apply for a license to carry but the governments here have denied every application. My advice is join the NFA and we will eventually have as big of a voice as the NRA in the US. Only then will we have the right to protect ourselves.

Thousands of women lie about assaults every day in family court. Go sit in and see the tears those women shed while they lie about their spouse or partner. Sorry if you thought I was being insulting--I wasn't. I'm very sorry this happened to your sister or anyone. It happened to my Mother when I was young but exactly how would I know if someone was lying? That's why I made the comment. In real life that does happen.

foxtrapper, there is no indication that her account of what happened isn't true. For you to bring it up is insensitive. You said yourself you wouldn't know if someone is lying. Why would you even infer that she might be?

I think you would find that women who lie about being assaulted are usually in a long term relationship with the person they are accusing or they were caught doing something they should be doing and use the accusations to defer attention from themselves.

There is no indication that this young lady knew any of her attackers or that she was doing anything wrong. 1am or 1pm doesn't matter, there are plenty of semio secluded areas where these thugs could have gone after a lot of different women.

I think that if these three dudes got a good scare and some lumps and fractures from some rough men as punishment for preying on the weak, then they would probably think twice before doing so again. An eye for an eye.
