Prince George, B.C. -  ICBC and North District RCMP are reminding Prince George residents that summer CounterAttack road checks are on.  Police are looking for impaired drivers now that the BBQ and summer road trip season has arrived.

According to ICBC, alcohol remains in the top five contributing factors for fatal car crashes and incidents of impaired driving have gone up since 2002.

It seems that some drivers in the Prince George region aren't getting the message that alcohol and drugs can be a deadly combination. North District Traffic Services set up a number of road checks in and around the city during this this past weekend.  A total of 5 people face charges of impaired driving while 2 other drivers received 90 day driving bans.  Police also handed out 11 24-hour suspensions.  RCMP says 8 of the bans were due to alcohol, while the other 3 were drug related.

RCMP also wrote up over 40 Provincial Motor Vehicle Act Charges. The charges range from novice driver offences to commercial vehicle infractions.

Police say road checks will continue to be out in full force this summer and can pop up at any time and any place.

Excellent.....I wish they made these massive crackdowns an almost daily event.

It appears to be the only way to try and get these morons to use what is left of their grey matter.
Maybe they should start impounding the vehicle for a few days as well, then if you get caught driving while suspended the vehicle is gone forever....no matter who's vehicle it is...would stop people from lending out their vehicles...and might keep the yahoo's off the road...MAYBE?
Seems like there's no shortage of morons driving. One I know in particular just keeps driving even after an impaired and driving without a license. I have no idea why he has a vehicle? Could it be that his father is a criminal lawyer?
