Ft. St.John, B.C. - A little boy from Fort St. John has just had a very lucky third birthday.

The child disappeared from his parent’s Peace Island Municipal Park campsite around 7:30 yesterday morning.

The 3 year old had driven his battery powered “truck” into the Peace River.

A search was launched and about three hours later, the frantic parents were told a boater had found their son, sitting on his toy truck, floating downstream, 12 kilometres away from the campsite.

The RCMP  took him to the hospital to be checked, but he seems fine. Officers say the little boy seemed to be very excited about getting a ride in the police car.

I once escaped on my tricycle when I was three and the police located me at the corner store a couple of kilometers from home... apparently I thought the ride home in the police car was fantastic my mom tells me lol.

This kid in the Peace country sounds very lucky to be alive and thankfully someone was in the right place at the right time to make a difference.
good thing the toy floated
Finally a story with a happy ending !!! Kids are so fast, you really do need eye's in the back of your head, just like your mother had !!!
A very lucky kid indeed!
Lucky for the child but shame on the parents. with any small child near a RIVER u should have constant visual contact with your child. Who is looking out for this child?
Oh give it a rest Peanut.Shame on you for thinking you are perfect.
Ok give it a rest. There are so many tragedys that could be prevented with some common sense. Just glad this was not one and hope the lesson was learned.
I wonder if the guy that made the rescue was the same guy involved in the accident last year near Vanderhoof where the lady crossed the yellow line and died... same name anyways... if so good for him, because he would have needed it I'm sure more than anyone. Being in the right place at the right time making up for being in the wrong place at the wrong time....
Nope, same name different person.
