Prince George, B.C.- The Air Quality Advisory for Prince George has been cancelled.

That means, free bus rides will also come to an end as of midnight tonight.

Based on the air quality data, the high levels were mainly due to combustion emissions (smoke). Very dry stagnant conditions over the region resulted in particulates accumulating in the air shed. Conditions still remained dry but were not as stagnant in the past 12 hours. Plus, Environment Canada has forecast a chance of thunder showers again for this afternoon.

There is a possibility of high particulate levels reoccurring again on Wednesday as a weak high pressure ridge is forecast to move through the region.

The 24 hour PM2.5 rolling average was 22 µg/m3 at the Plaza 400 downtown site and 16 µg/m3 at College Heights at 9:00 am. The 24 hour PM10 rolling average was 31 µg/m3 at the Plaza 400 downtown, 42 µg/m3 at BCR and 22 µg/m3 at College Heights.

I put out my wood burning stove, doused the weenie roast for the grand kids, didn't drive on unpaved roads so as not to create road dust, didn't idle my truck at Timmies and it worked. I got the air quality advisory lifted with just leaving a size 2 carbon footprint.
