Prince George City Council, 2005 - 2008
The inaugural session of the newly elected City Council went this evening in Council Chambers decorated for the holidays.
The Director of the Bel Canto Junior Choir, Jaclyn Reimer, opened the evening by leading those in attendance in the singing of our National Anthem.
Mayor-elect Colin Kinsley then presented outgoing councillors Dan Rogers and Cliff Dezell with gifts recognizing their long-standing service in local government. Rogers was unsuccessful in his bid to unseat the Mayor, losing out by 642 votes. Mayor Kinsley thanked Rogers for his 12 years on City Council, "You have been a stalwart in our community, you are going to be missed and I can only hope that your political life does not end here, you're far too young." As for retiring Councillor Cliff Dezell, Kinsley pointed out, "I believe you're the most elected official in the history of Prince George, something like nine terms, Councillor Dezell." Dezell started his political career as a school board trustee back in 1979.
Next up, Mr. Justice Ian Meiklem led the mayor-elect and councillors-elect through their Oaths of Office and Oaths of Allegiance.

Sometimes people are just so very fortunate their head holds their ears apart!!!
And I suppose the taxpayers paid for that big reception at the Civic Centre???
Yep, the public doesn't get any smarter either!
Right off the bat we have more committees, task forces, and studies.
You asked for it-now settle down and live with it.
