Kluskus Fire Moves South
By 250 News
WILLIAMS LAKE- Moderate winds moved Kluskus Lakes fire southward yesterday.
The fire burning near Kluskus lakes has now been GPS mapped to be 1800 hectares. Yesterday morning gusty winds coming from the north to north east pushed the fire south away from the Kluskus community. In the afternoon, cooler temperatures and quieter winds resulted in less aggressive fire behaviour. Today, BC Forest Service personnel will be working with heavy machinery to build a guard around the north flank of the fire. A helicopter will be assisting Forest Service crews in their efforts and air tankers will be available if necessary.
An evacuation order remains in place for the Kluskus area. For more information regarding evacuations, please contact the Cariboo Regional District at 250-392-4283.
Currently many areas in the Cariboo Fire Centre are in a high to extreme danger rating. The public is urged to use extra caution when participating in outdoor or back country activities, as person-caused wildfires require resources critical for naturally occurring lightning fires
