Kamloops, B.C. – Higher temperatures and winds, combined with lower relative humidity, increased fire behaviour on the Intlpam and Hell Creek fires yesterday.

The Hell Creek wildfire, in the Yalakom Valley, is now estimated at 2000 hectares and is 25 percent contained. Today, Structural Protection Units will be placing sprinkler systems on structures and crews will continue to build guards around the entire fire perimeter. The Evacuation Order remains in place for the Yalakom Valley. For more information please contact the SLRD at 1-866-417-4132.

The Intlpam fire, located between Lytton and Lillooet, is now estimated at 1400 hectares. Yesterday afternoon, there was significant burning in the interior of the fire, but no escapes. There was an evacuation order on six homes in the area. Resources include 50 forest service personnel, five helicopters and nine pieces of heavy equipment. An Evacuation Alert is in place through the Thompson-Nicola Regional District and for more information call 1-250-377-7188.

The Seton Portage fire saw less active fire behaviour yesterday, and remains at 1325 hectares with 25 percent containment. Yesterday, there was some activity, but aggressive helicopter activity kept it under control. Today, crews and heavy equipment will continue working towards establishing control lines between Seton Lake and Anderson Lake and prepare for burning off. Resources on site include 32 firefighters, five pieces of heavy equipment, and one helicopter. An Evacuation Order has been issued for Seton Portage and surrounding areas: for more information please contact the Squamish Lillooet Regional District at 1-866-417-4132.
