Like I said before the solution is to have a $100 bill in a glass box downtown on display for all the street people in a remote dark location. When they want to play their games, because they are desperate for a place to sleep and a meal, it would be like a bell for the police and no innocent people (or small businesses) need to be involved.

We need to cut the middle man out of these robbery crimes and let the police and the criminals play cowboy and indians in their own little world... even if we do have to replace the glass box and we loss a few hundred dollars to the enterprising criminals from time to time. Its good public safety policy IMO.

These are crimes of desperation after all.
The 711 ay Queensway and 17th IS the "glass box".

I would like to see the frequency of that store being hit compared to others. The one in the Gateway may be up there as well.
looking to buy drugs clean up the drug trade and a lot of these robberies would go away
Should ask me Gus, I see it all in my job!!
Okay, taxinapothole, based on your observations in driving around town and talking to some of the business owners/employees and your passengers, where are the populat places to get hit? Which are the easy targets?
crack
if fetterly was the mayor this shit wouldnt be happening
I think the out of the way 24 hour stores are probably hit more often. Since they have started locking up the doors on some places at night, and serving customers through a small window,it would seem the problems have decreased in those businesses. If a store is open over night, it is required by law that they have two people staffing the business if they let customers inside. The 7/11's have electric locks on their doors, which allows them to block certain individuals from entering the store. Mr.G stores that are open 24/7, have two people working, but no electric locks.(they are in better neighborhoods)

It seems some nights, that it doesn't matter where your store is located, you will get hit. Several weeks ago, about four or five late night convenience stores were robbed in a matter of hours. It started with the Shell Station in the BCR site, and ended in the Hart Highway area.

Well Gus, the problem seems to be wide spread. Until we stiffen up the penalties for these and other crimes, I think it will continue to get worse.

As the drug problem continues to accelerate, no neighborhood is protected!! There are people from all walks of life purchasing illegal drugs. Crack Shacks are popping up all over town. People, don't pretend it isn't happening in your neighborhood, because it is. There may only be users in your neighborhood now, but it won't be long, before a "Conveniance Crack Shack" opens. I find most drug addicts are very lazy. In our business, we get to know who they are, and it is cash on the dash, or feet on the street. Even at that, some of them will fool you.

Be very vigilant as to what is going on around you, and in your neighborhood. If you see vehicles coming and going, 24/7, you probably have some sort of illegal business going on there.

We have become a world of conveniances! We can shop, bank, purchase items on line etc. But some of these conveniances are being taken away because of criminal activity. If we want to buy a quart of milk in the middle of the night, it will passed to us through a little window, like we are common thieves. We can't be trusted to enter that store. It isn't us, it is the crimminals that have caused this. But how does the store clerk decide who is OK, and who is not? It is no different in my job, I don't know who is going to rip me off, and who is not. So, I have to make a judgement call as to who, I should ask for money in advance.

We really need to put some huge teeth back into the justice system. Crime is starting to run our country in a big way, it needs to be stopped! How?? I don't know, but what we have done in the last two decades has not worked!
