Feds Deliver $20 Million for Job Creation Projects

Prince George-Peace River M.P Jay Hill announces a further $20 Million for "Community Adjustment" projects to create jobs
Prince George, B.C.- The Federal Government has rolled out another $20 million dollars for job creation in central and Northern B.C.
Prince George-Peace River M.P Jay Hill made the announcement this morning. The money will be distributed by the Northern Development Initiatives Trust, and brings to $30 million the amount dished out by Ottawa through the Community Adjustment Fund.
Northern Development Initiative Trust has also detailed 23 projects which were approved for the first 10 million dollars, those projects include more than $1 million for UNBC for to provide First Nations, youth and low income and the unemployed with employment skills. The City of Prince George received $444 thousand to design and develop new trails.
NDI Trust CEO Jeanine North says there were 490 applications filed within 6 weeks of that first round of funding being announced. The approved projects will create 295 jobs over 19 months in nearly 2 dozen communities.

It’s expected the new funding will be allocated within the next few weeks for projects that must be completed by March 31st of 2011.
