Prince George, B.C. - Police say it was a particularly violent night in the city of Prince George with numerous assaults,  thefts and two street fights.  They are most concerned with two incidents including a slashing that took place on Dominion Street around 11 last night.  A 49 year old female was slashed across the face.  A 31 year old female is the suspect.

There was also a foiled armed robbery at Nelly’s Neighbourhood Pub.

Just after midnight a lone male with a sawed off rifle entered through the back door of the pub and pointed the rifle at the employee at the cash register.  The employee jumped out of the way, grabbed the phone and called 9-1-1.  One patron grabbed the suspect and a struggle ensued.  Other patrons joined in and the would be thief let go of the rifle and fled the scene.

Police are now looking for a white male, 35-40 years old, 6’-6’2” tall, 250 lbs, wearing dark clothing, a ball cap and a mask. Police are stressing that trying to stop a robbery can be extremely dangerous especially when firearms are involved.

Good for them!
Sounds like a welfare Wed. night to me.
Coincidently, August 26, 2009 was cheque issue date for Sept. financial assistance from Ministry of Housing and Social Development.
bird: that is what Lou said!
lol Dont mess with those Hart Boys! Nellie's Pub has some regular clientel that love that place.. kind of a Cheers 'everybody knows your name' scenerio. Good on you boys!
signed... a Hart Girl.
Oh right, welfare Wednesday. That's why all those seedy looking people were in the grocery store last night. Cheers :)
Hard to see a connection between an armed robber and Social Assistance, but okay.
Welfare Wednesday is a busy day for many service providers, such as our fine men and women in red serge, and they get even more business when there is a full moon AND welfare wednesday. The patrons of Nellies should be proud, I think that is great, they foiled the robbery, good on them. Of course the police are obliged to mention that "you should not do that, it could be dangerous, especially when firearms are involved" oooh, really?
The only thing wrong here is that the robber got away, too bad they were not able to hold him. Bruises and broken arms officer? oh, I guess that happened when he tripped while running out the door, don't know how else it could have occurred (innocent looks all around)
metalman.
Too bad none of the patrons had a taser handy!

No need to decribe the knife wielding "females". Speaks for itself.
I'm amazed that none of the bar patrons were charged with assault. Isn't that how the system seems to be working lately?

Maybe too many bridge openings and photo ops are affecting the citizens of PG.
Surprised the cops were even there, I heard a rumor that they were all attending a roadblock at Aspen Golf Course after the Senior tournament there last Sunday.
C'mon eh? The cops do their job. I got a ticket for no lic plate lite once.
