Prince George, B.C. - Investigators from the "E" Division Provincial Unsolved Homicide Unit are conducting a search on a property located at 31645 Pinewood Road in the District of Isle Pierre, west of Prince George.
Investigators are searching for evidence on the property that will help further one of their historical homicide investigations.
Police say they have no reason to believe at this time that the current residents have any involvement in this investigation.
Because of the location (highway 16 west) there has been speculation this may have something to do with the Nicole Hoar disappearance. The young tree planter from Alberta disappeared while hitch-hiking to Smithers June 21st, 2002. Despite a massive search at the time, a $50,000 reward, and the efforts of over twenty highly trained police officers who came to the city from the lower mainland in an effort to break the case, not one single solid clue had been produced.
Constable Annie Linteau is on the scene and says they will neither confirm nor deny the speculation, nor will she say what brought the team to Prince George, "These investigations take some time, and some of the information that has been gathered has brought us here." Linteau says she expects the investigators will be on the site for several days. Linteau will also not say if this investigation has anything to do with the "E"-Pana investigation of missing and murdered women along Highway 16.
"I expect there will be further information released in the coming days."
The unit moved to the region is the Mobile Forensic Response Unit. This is a very sophisticated unit, the same one used during the Pickton investigation.
