Prince George, B.C.- Investigators from the "E" Division Provincial Unsolved Homicide Unit are continuing their search of the rural property located on Pinewood Road in the District of Isle Pierre, west of Prince George. Police are searching for evidence in relation to the 2002 disappearance of Nicole Hoar.
The Prince George Search and Rescue team is assisting investigators today in conducting a grid search of the densely forested area of the property in search of evidence. They are expected to remain at the site for all of today.
Police have received over one hundred tips received in the last few days. As a result of information received yesterday, investigators will be searching a second location for evidence. They are not expecting to find human remains at this location but may find discarded items of interest. This latest search is expected to take most of the day. The location of the search is about a kilometer further north on Pinewood Road and appears to have been an unauthorized dumping site for some residents. Of special interest is an abandoned vehicle found at that location that will be seized and forensically examined. Corporal Annie Linteau says the yellow pickup will be towed and examined. Past and current ownership of the pick up has not yet been established. RCMP have also brought in some heavy equipment to remove surface debris at this second location.
“We also have a geo-physicist who is operating some ground penetrating radar equipment” says Linteau “This equipment will be able to detect any anomalies in the ground which may indicate where the ground has been tampered with.”
Linteau is not able to say if investigators have come across any physical evidence yet which would tie this site to the disappearance of Nicole Hoar.
Nicole's family is aware of the current developments in their daughter's investigation and have requested privacy during this difficult time.
The primary search is taking place on property once owned by Leland Vincent Switzer. He is serving a life sentence for the second degree murder of his brother Irvin on June 23rd of 2002, just two days after Nicole was last seen at the gas station on Gauthier Road.
