Prince George, B.C. – The clock is ticking towards the 5th Annual Evening in Pink.
The annual event is aimed at raising funds for equipment that can be used for , or by, cancer patients at Prince George Regional Hospital.
“The first year we put most of the money to research and some to buy a computer for the renal unit” says event organizer Monica Peacock.
The second year saw the funds go towards the purchase of a sentinel nerve probe, while years 3 and four helped buy a flex-i-tron specimen unit “It can be used in the O.R. to examine tissue on the spot rather than have to send it off to a lab” says Peacock.
Peacok says this event doesn’t deal with just breast cancer, ”We want to raise funds that will upgrade the O.R.s so they will be totally effective with the new Cancer Clinic and be of the best benefit to all cancer patients.”.
Evening In Pink always features a guest speaker, a fine dinner and a silent auction. This year, the guest speaker is broadcaster Pamela Martin.
Monica says there is no set dollar goal for this year’s event “While I would always like to raise between $30 and $50 thousand dollars, I know things are tough in today’s economy so to me, every dollar raised is significant.”
The semi-formal event is set for September 19th at the Civic Centre. While tickets are still available, they are going fast. Anyone wishing to attend can purchase tickets by calling Monica at 250-552-4114.
