Prince George, B.C. – It was close, but no record.
As beautiful as today was, the high of 26.2 did not set a new record high temperature in Prince George for September 22nd.  The record high for this date was set in 1987, when the temperature hit 27.3 degrees.
There were a number of communities in B.C. which came close to setting new high temperature marks today, but only Lytton set a new record. It was 30.6 degrees there today, just high enough to top the old record of 30.4 set in 1990.
To what do we owe this spectacular arrival of fall? “We owe it to a very strong high pressure ridge” says Environment Canada meteorologist John MacInytyre. “This is the type of weather pattern we normally see in the summer and it will be here for another day.”
Sometime tomorrow night, the cold reality of fall will settle in as a cold front will make its way into the Prince George region.
