An RCMP SUV Cruiser was badly damaged  after crashing with the  Ford  pick up in the left of the photo.

Prince George –Highway 97 north remains closed between Noranda Rd and Shamrock following a two vehicle crash.

Northbound traffic is being diverted at Bellamy, and Southbound traffic is being rerouted at Noranda Road.

No one was injured, but a police SUV cruiser and a pickup truck received major damage, when the two collided as the police cruiser was attempting to head to the Hart Liquor store to investigate a possible theft or armed robbery.

Police believe that a man entered the store and may have threatened staff with a bottle before fleeing. Police were called, and the cruiser was on its way to the scene when the crash occurred.  Police say the  officer  had  the lights and siren going  at the time of the crash. flashing lights and siren going.

The person involved in the theft has since been arrested.

Doesn't surprise me. Prince George drivers are dangerous.
And everybody who has listened to the Braidwood inquiry believes what the RCMP spin doctors tell us.
How fast do you think the RCMP was going to travel that far from the scene? 140-160KPH?????? I bet he wasn't doing the normal 20-25K over the limit most people drive there.
The accident reconstruction will tell the story of who was at fault. Even though the member with his emergency equipment on may have legally been allowed to exceed the speed limit to get to the call, he still must drive with due care and dilligence.
the cop did NOT!! have his siren going
MMMMMMM! interesting observation somedude.
I dont know why we have accident reconstruction people at all - post a picture on opinion250 and let all the armchair quarterbacks figure it out. Come on sportsman, you are calculating speeds from the picture? Oh wait, it was a police vehicle so he HAD to be in the wrong...
He may have had his lights on but by the picture I wonder if he made a surprise left hand turn in front of traffic.
Some I know witnessed the RCMP flying past him so fast by the north scale he thought he was going backwards. No siren either.
This cop, was not doing the speed limit, he/she was not doing 10 or 20 over. He/she, was committing DANGEROUS DRIVING!! Look at the condition of the RCMP vehicle, the front wheel is sideways on the ground, and the back one is well bent!

I see these individuals driving like fools every night. No lights on, no sirens on. They race down the bypass like it is a drag strip. I guess you are allowed to do that when you pack a gun, and you are still wet behind the ears!! The cops in this town are pathetic. They will answer for their actions one day soon I hope.

I am packing a camera now, I am out here for 12 hours every night. I am a great observer, not too much passes by my eyes. It is time you cops are stopped of your nasty attitudes to your so called authority. You are here to enforce the law, not break it, or make it!!

Clean up your act now!!!
Soooo.....did they get the guy they were trying to nab? A while back someone mentioned that maybe 3 smaller cop shops in 3 different areas of PG insted of one big one down town would be the answer...heres maybe 2 good reasons.
First of all I'm am so glad nobody was killed or badly injured.
I was in an accident along this stretch at an intersection (Race Track Gas) years ago. I was driving down highway app. 65km/h in my jeep cherokee. A pickup truck pulled out onto highway as if I wasn't there. I had no time to react and t-boned her on the icy highway. My vehicle was a write off but by looking at it you'd never know it. A small indent to my hood, no flat or bent tires.
So by me hitting her bam like a brick wall at 65 showed very little damage.

By looking at this pic. it blows me away about how lucky they are by both escaping being killed!

I don't care who you are but when you drive by me at crazy unnecessary speeds it makes my blood boil especially when I have my babies in my vehicle.

Are there no police officers just positioned on the hart?
uuummm...if we are all judging by the picture...it looks to me like the truck hit the SUV...the RCMP was driving straight (not turning as one comment suggested)...the SUV is damaged on the passanger side (mostly front quarter) you would think that the truck (whos entire front end is damaged) hit the SUV... correct!?!?!?!? how the hell would I know...I'm not a crash reconstruction techy or a CSI...and I am pretty damn sure you guys aren't either!!!! let the professionals do their jobs before lynching the RCMP!!! witness recounts are not 100% reliable...i witnessed a fight one time and i couldn't remember if the guy was wearing a hat!!!! (he was btw) but i didn't remember that!!!
taxinapotehole...did you witness this? did you witness "dangerous driving?" one day you are gonna need those "fools" (i am guessing you are a taxi driver?!?!) don't blame all for the actions of a few...IF the RCMP officer is found to be at fault then the officer should be dealt with accordingly...don't blame all officers for the actions of one...
in the citizen report, the truck was turning onto the hart hwy from Shamrock and crashed into the RCMP...
when first officer passed me at the scales there was definetly no sirens, and to be honest i was doing round 80kmh and he went by me like i was standing still, second officer passed me same way like a bat outta hell, no sirens, i really hope that dude in the ford dont get burned for the RCMP's undue care and attention, and reckless driving, i missed the accident by about 15 seconds and so if your reading this ford owner, look me up, i will stand up for what is right and wrong!!!
I have seen, on countless occasions, drivers not pay attention to any emergency vehicles. They just keep going on their merry way oblivious to the fact that if you see an emergency vehicle you are required to pull off the road to the RIGHT and wait for the emergency vehicle to go by. I think from the picture we can all see this did not occur.

As for the officer, if it was my wife whose life was being threatened, he couldn't have gotten there fast enough. Glad to see no one was hurt and hopefully we well all take this as a lesson to get out of the way!
From my office window, I can watch ambulances, fire trucks, and police cars go by on the highway. I am often shocked, that despite being over 200 meters away from the highway, and behind insulated walls, and double pane glass, I can hear the vehicles (especially the fire trucks boy are they loud), long before I can see them.

Yet by the time they come to the stretch of highway I can see them, they still have to weave back and forth between lanes as drivers simply do not pull over. Those that do pull over force the vehicles behind them to pull out into the other lane so they don't have to stop.

I think they should put cameras in the fronts of ambulances, fire trucks and Police cars, we could easily double their budgets with the tickets. Perhaps after a few tickets people might pull to the side, so if you are dying, being held up, or your house is on fire, the emergency personnel and vehicles will get there quicker.
so agent_123_2000 while your standing up for whats right and wrong...you were doing 80km in a 60km zone (doing 80 while the police pass you...you should have been pulled over) look up the word hypocrite in the dictionary...

if that was my family member being held up in the liquor store...i don't care if the cop was doing 200km...it is the law that you pull over not judge how fast they are going...get out of the way...it is our responsibility as drivers to be aware of what is going on around us...you have mirrors on your vehicle for a reason...all of you should see the lights comming up behind you...(IF they had sirens on you should be able to hear them instead of vibrating your car with the stereo) All the cop haters out there are loving this one...
if anybody witnessing this accedent or has any statment relating to the speed of the police or sirens being on or off please contact ICBC claims adjuster Erin Haviland
claim # n579383-4 thanks
So just what happened at the liquor store? No news on that. Was it being robbed?

justmine says "...it looks to me like the truck hit the SUV..." The guy was probably pulling out to make a left or right turn after checking both ways but when some one is speeding and appears all of a sudden, no warning guess what......

justmine says "taxinapotehole...did you witness this? did you witness "dangerous driving?" Taxi was referring to other things he has seen, not this spectific incident, so bite your tongue.

justmine says "i don't care if the cop was doing 200km..." seems to me justmine, you're out to lunch.
It must be very exciting to drive fast to catch a robber. Who will be released on his own recognizance a couple of hours after he is caught and locked up. And maybe wait about six weeks for a court date. What a system.
Would Hiedi1555's blood still boil if this vehicle was travelling to a robbery in which this guy was threatening one of her "babies"? Oh wait, she says "unnecessarily" - I guess you can take your time getting to an armed robbery as long as your family isnt involved.

well acrider54...go back and read all the posts not just the parts you want to ridicule...

-the comment about who hit who, i was making a point that you can't judge what happend, or can't tell anything about an accident by a picture!!!

taxinapothole said: (and he did say THIS COP and commenting on this incident)
"This cop, was not doing the speed limit, he/she was not doing 10 or 20 over. He/she, was committing DANGEROUS DRIVING!! Look at the condition of the RCMP vehicle, the front wheel is sideways on the ground, and the back one is well bent!"
-that to me refers to this incident!!!!

and how about that being your wife/husband/child at the robbery...you'd exagerate too and want them there as quick as possible!!!

so before you say that i am out to lunch...read the whole post...until then you bite your tongue!!!
No Interceptor not take time getting to a call you silly but at least slow down for the bends in the road so your vehicle doesn't become a deadly weapon for some innocent person caught off guard around the corner.

Here's some good hindsight for all us "armchair quarterbacks".... ;) Too bad the roads weren't designed differently like say the side road from Timmy's to Kelly Road. Travel along the side road a little ways to get to traffic lights to get onto highway. The hart highway has seen a lot of accidents.

just to clarify Mr. "JUSTMINE" that officer came onto me sooo fast that in between the 4to6 seconds that i do my mirror checks while driving he was right on my ass, then i started to slow down, and moved into the right hand lane, as he went by me, now normally when an officer of the law passes me i hear the sirens coming, must of not been sirens for him to catch onto me before i caught onto him, as i slowed right down, the second officer went by me he was on my left making me on his right i was doing right round 50kmh watching for ambulances, fire trucks or other emergency vehicles, have i now cleared this up for you JUSTMINE, as far as if your loved one was being held up and driving 200 kmh, hwe all see how far excessive speed got the officers didnt we, had they of just backed off the pedal a slight bit they would of made er there alot faster, any more questions or comments justmine??? id be glad to answer them for you!!!

thank you for clarifying for me agent...
so you "slowed" to 50 km and not pulled off as they passed you...I guess that makes it ok then...as long as you slow down that is all that counts!!! You Rock!!!
