Prince George, B.C.- Today marks the first day seasonal flu shots will be made available in the Northern Health region.

This round of shots will be offered to those at high risk, namely those over the age of 65 and residents of long term care homes.

In addition to the season flu shot, a pneumococcal vaccine will be available at the same time for seniors and those with chronic medical conditions; this vaccine helps to protect against pneumonia, which is the most common complication of influenza.
