No sick cartoon like this one is going to interfere with my appreciation of all the blessings we are enjoying in this magnificent province!

Too true diplomat! It would have been much more appropriate if that turkey had been a senior, disabled or homeless person. Then at least it would have been more in tune with this governments wishes.

Diplomat. Everything you have in this magnificent Province was paid for by hard working Citizens who paid taxes. We got nothing free. We paid for it all.
Politicians and Civil servants are nothing more than keepers of the public purse.
Every project and program instituted by Politicians were paid for by the taxpayers.
If anyone should be grateful it should be the politicians, and civil servants, who are able to have such a great life in BC because of the generosity of the taxpayers.

So Palopu I'll bite, what is your solution to civil servants?
Posted by: diplomat on October 13 2009 8:34 AM
Relax! I did not include politicians (of any party) in my blessings! My blessings are an appreciation of relatively good health, moderate wealth, universal healthcare, peace, friendly people, a small city with no traffic jams and all the amenities that one finds usually only in a much larger city.
I can bore you with listing (usually) clean air (in the Hart) , enough water, and the beauties of nature.....but why bother?
Hard working citizens exist everywhere in every country in the world. Taxes are a necessity in order to maintain a functioning society and to get the services that we have grown used to.
Once a year (or every day!) one should look around and count all the blessings, man-made or natural!
Happy Thanksgiving!

Seamutt. I dont have a problem with Civil Servants per se. I do have a problem with thousands of Civel Servants who have cushy jobs, and produce little of nothing for the taxpayer. The same thing applies to Politician.
We have four levels of Government in Canada. Federal, Provincial, Regional, Municipal, and then we download the Governments responsibility for Governing and set up organizations like.
BC Ferries, BC Hydro, BC Transit, Worksafe BC, ICBC, Powerex, BCTC,
At the same time the four levels of Government continue to grow.
You can only have all this Government, and other entitys if you have a solid work force, and you are taxed to the hilt. If you cut the taxes then there would (or should) be a cut in the number of organizations living high off the hog.
