Social Husing Upgrades Unveiled

Prince George, B.C.- Three social housing sites in Prince George are among 81 throughout the province to undergo either renovations or retrofits under the Housing Renovation Partnership. The Partnership is a jointly funded  Federal-Provincial program to renovate and retrofit social housing over the next two years creating an estimated 1,130 jobs throughout the province.
 
While the values of the Prince George projects have not yet been released, the budget for all 81 projects ( most of which are in the lower mainland) is in the $164 million dollar range with a further $13 million allocated to renovations that are underway at provincially-owned Single Room Occupancy (SRO) hotels in Vancouver and New Westminster.
 
The three Prince George projects are as follows:
 
Alward Place : Windows, Mechanical, Energy Retrofit
 
Strathwood Apartments: Building Envelope, Energy, Energy Retrofit
 
Vanier : Energy Retrofit
