McBride, B.C.- The community of McBride has received $1.38 million for the second phase of the Eco-Sensitive Solution to Wastewater Treatment project.
The Phase 2 of McBride's eco-sensitive solution to wastewater treatment project will add an additional month of retention and capacity to the system with a third treatment/storage cell. A constructed effluent wetland will increase the retention by three months and a flood-irrigated woodlot will add wildlife habitat while absorbing effluent, eliminating direct discharge to the Fraser River.
"We're pleased that the provincial and federal governments recognize and support our solution to waste water treatment," says McBride Mayor Mike Frazier. "McBride is taking an environmentally-sensitive, responsible approach, and this funding will help us complete phase 2 of the project."
The Village of McBride is investing over $690,000in the $2 million dollar project. This builds on joint federal-provincial funding of over $1 million from the Building Canada Fund for Phase 1 of the project, which is currently under construction.
