Yes, this would be funny if it was not the truth. :{

A little too much truth in this to be very funny!

what is funny is that when I was young (late 60's early 70's)and the people carrying the signs and having the police breaking up the gatherings and protests are now the people in charge of the police

I have no use for the Olympic games but I have even less use for placard waving leftists.

It is said that you learn something new everyday. Today I learned from EBS&L that all placard wavers are leftists. Now I know as much as EBS&L

Even though the SOB should be in Jail, Gordo has done his homework. He has used the Charter of Rights and Freedoms to pass this stupid law regarding the owe-lympics. Here is the 'in case' part of the Charter:
The federal Parliament or a provincial legislature may declare a law or part of a law to apply temporarily "notwithstanding" countermanding sections of the Charter, thereby nullifying any judicial review by overriding the Charter protections for a limited period of time. This is done by including a section in the law clearly specifying which rights have been overridden. A simple majority vote in any of Canada's eleven jurisdictions may suspend the core rights of the Charter. The rights to be overridden, however, must be either a fundamental right (e.g., section 2 freedom of expression, religion, association, etc), a legal right (e.g., liberty, search and seizure, cruel and unusual punishment, etc), or a section 15 equality right. Other rights such as section 6 mobility rights, democratic rights, and language rights are inalienable.
I think I'll have a flag made up. Put the rings inside a red circle with a diagonal line through it.

I don't remember seeing this part in print anywhere.
"clearly specifying which rights have been overridden"

I have just read it is a proposed law so far:
The government said in a statement that the changes will "provide the municipalities of Vancouver, Richmond and Whistler with temporary enforcement powers to enable them to swiftly remove illegal signs and graffiti during the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games."

Do you think for one minute that other bills have not been passed that infringe on our rights? If you do, you will be one of the deer caught in headlights. We are losing our rights and freedoms bit by bit by the mere men we elect behind closed doors. They tried to do one so that they could take the homeless off of the streets forcibly without their approval in Vancouver. Federally they are doing the same thing. Government can not afford to have us speak our minds anymore. Government on all levels are moving towards eliminating anything that gives the PEOPLE more power than government itself.
