Shuffle time.
I wonder how long this team will remain in PG? Their record has been less than stellar for a while now.
The Cougars left Victoria because they were bad for a long time and lost their fanbase. The same thing is happening here. I'd love to see the Cougars stay in PG, but the on-ice product isn't something that makes people want to buy a ticket.
When will the Cougars finish their constant rebuilding project and actually put a competitive team on the ice?

One of the reasons nobody goes anymore is that the GM says " we will be competitive next year" but next year never comes because of poor drafting , lousy trades and managerial incompetence.

It wouldnt matter if this team was in PG, Victoria or Regina, attemdance will be low if the team is continously bad.
I agree the fan base to draw from here in PG is ideal.
The problem is the team is no good.

Why did the ticket price not drop?
This is a recession will the whole world being devalued by at least 20%.
Those ticket prices should have dropped along with the rest of the world.

and put a better product on the ice.

out of the 40 canadian junior teams PG is dead last
When you factor in Seniors, Kids, Season Tickets, etc; the average ticket price is around $14.00. This is cheap compared to tickets for other things that are held at the CN Centre.

The City gets 12% of the ticket sale or $1.68 per ticket. With an average of 2500 fans per game the City takes in approx $4200.00 per game, or $151,000.00 for 36 home games. Hardly enough to pay for the heat, lights, ice, staff, etc; in fact I suspect that they lose money, which is one reason why the CN Centre is subsidized to the tune of $ 600,000.00 per year.

Without an increase in the fan base this franchise, and the City are running a losing operation. Will the Cougers get better?? Will the fans come back??? Who knows, however something has to happen.

If the team is better the fan base will be good!

Maybe the City should take over the Team and run it like a business and Not a Family business!
Lowering ticket prices is a dangerous thing to do, although it might bring people in the short term. Once they go down, it's hard to increase them if the team gets better. People would say that the team is 'gouging' and not pay it.

Forget about the City (taxpayers) taking over the team... it will never happen. This is Brodsky's team, and he's not selling to anyone. He'll move before he sells.
Seeing that i live in vancouver and love junior hockey i must say that i love that the giants squished Prince George. I personally don not support the canucks or any other BC team for that matter. I am unfortunately still an Edmonton boy, who just lives in B.C.
It would be nice to think the Cougars could be competitive with other teams in their division but given the scores from the Kamloops game, Kelowna game, and Vancouver it would seem this team is destined to be at the bottom of the pack. To bad for the young players. It must be disheartening to lose consistently. Dean does not have a lot of talent to work with and that can only be attributed to trades and drafting done by the present GM.
Many of us had high hopes for the Cougars this year but even though it is early in the season it would appear the Cougars are in for another long, losing season.
Most of the forecasts I heard were that the Cougars would be at the bottom half of their division at best, competing hard for a playoff spot. They are meeting expectations. In fairness, they are being slammed by injuries right now.
Since inception in the 1994-1995 season, the PG Cougars have had 5 seasons where their wins outstripped their losses. Since 1989, except for one anomalous season of 2006-2007 they have not made it paste the West conference quarter finals.

So, statistically speaking, they are and always have been losers.

It's pretty tough to be a fan for a losing franchise. What I don't understand is why there are any fans that even bother to buy tickets? There is over a 65% chance that they will get their behinds handed to them.
