Quesnel – The City Of Quesnel has  awarded the tender for construction of its new bulk water distribution plant.

The plant will allow large users of water, such as distributors, contractors and even those hauling water in their pick-ups, to get water from a safe distribution point. It will also ensure that people using City water contribute funds towards the cost of operating and maintaining the water system.

Three tenders were received, with Cottonwood Rivers Contracting Ltd. offering the lowest bid of $289,254.45. The project has an  approved budget of $583,000, which includes construction, engineering, the water stations and contingency.

This project is funded almost 50% through grants; $200,000 from Western Economic Diversification and $70,000 from the Northern Development Initiative trust.
