Prince George, B.C.   One of the greatest rock ‘n roll bands in history – ZZ Top – roars into Prince George’s CN Centre on November 17, 2009, at 7:30 pm. Tickets go on sale this Saturday, October 24, 2009, at noon.

For four decades ZZ Top has been known for their high-standard live presentation and performance on numerous record-breaking tours. They are one of rock's maverick attractions, with their eccentric, colourful image, dark glasses and Stetson hats. They complete their legendary status with an almost casual musical dexterity that has won over hardened cynics and carping critics.

In 2004, ZZ Top was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and holds the distinction of being still composed of its original recording members after 40 years.

Joining ZZ Top is their special guest, Charlie Major and his full band.

Special Note: FSX - Freestyle Snocross ticket-holders will have first access to premium bleacher seating!! Until October 29, just show your FSX ticket at the CN Centre box office, and gain access to the premium seats for ZZ Top!

Geritol gyrations Batman! The geezers are on the loose! These guys were older than me when I saw them live way back the seventies. They must be nearly as old as Mick and the Rolling Seniors eh?
Who is the corporate sponsor of the tour?
DEPENDS
metalman.
PG's lot in the entertainment world. We get them on the way up, or when they are has been.

formed in late 1969
What too small for Van. We get em when their geezers.
To be fair, PG doesn't have the population base or the venue to host a major group unless you want to pay $200 for a ticket.

I hate seeing concerts at the CN Centre, the place echos badly.
Wow you guys are losers.Surely you can find something positive to write.
Wow. coastb set a fine example for writing something positive, didn't he?
I agree MrPG, the CN Center has terrible accoustics!
Bad enough in fact that I won't go there anymore.
I am positive that prince George does not get current top billed acts.
I am positive that the CN center is a poor venue to host such acts.
I am positive that a PAC would not be adequate.
I seen they guys here a about 10 years back.
They played very few of the good oldies.
But premoted the heck out of there new album.
Billy Talent & 3 Days Grace are both coming here with various openers. Both bands, albeit Canadian, are very much on their "way up". We also had Buckcherry & Papa Roach, two very successful U.S. acts.

It used to be a lot worse.
Oh, forgot to mention, I saw ZZ on the Afterburner tour, at the height of their success & it was one of the lamest shows I've ever seen.
No doubt that CN Centre is a compromise as far as acoustics go. That said, there is also a night and day difference in regards to how some acts mix the sound and how much time they take to setup. The Barenaked Ladies, for example, did a fantastic job of sound engineering, even with the limitations of the building. Other acts I've seeen at CN Centre were so bad that you couldn't even understand what the heck they saying.

A building properly designed for concerts would be so far superior to what we have in town that even a person with one ear and half a brain could tell the difference. Unfortunately, we don't have the population to justify a building like that which could accomodate large acts. We do, however, have a lareg enough population as to accomodate smaller acts, more "intimate" shows and the like and that's where a proper PAC would shine.

Everyone has an opinion and that's fine. That's great actually. EatsBushes makes a great statement by saying that Three Days Grace and Billy Talent are coming and they are on their way "up". This is very true. Every now and then PG gets bands that are on the way up still which is nice. Nickelback, Buckcherry, Paparoach, Collective Soul, Seether, Staind, The Trews. These are just a few of the rock bands. Let's not forget the great country shows that have been coming through here. Toby Keith, Brooks and Dunn, Alan Jackson, Big and Rich. Those are 4 HUGE country acts. For the size of our town and better yet for the geographical location of our fair city, I'd say we do alright with the concerts. Look at the bright side, if we got every single band, we wouldn't get to do fun Van-city road trips, drink all weekend and spend too much money on Robson St. Am I right? We've all done it.
I think the CN center venues are pretty damn good for what we got! Yes the acoustics are shitty because it was not designed for audio venues. And most of the small coliseums like CN in the province and country have the exact same problems. Im actually amazed at some of the high profile international bands that have came through here already.. Alice Cooper, Motley Crue..Now ZZ Top. as well as alot of the other ones Gary Long has mentioned in his post. The worse thing compared to the crappy acoustics is the drunk rowdy red necks at the CN center. I saw more fights at the front line of Toby Keith then when i saw OZZY from the front row in Edmonton.
Does Zee Zee from the USA become Zed Zed when they perform in Canada?

The "natural" acoustics would be enhanced quite a bit if they would provide acoustic drapes/banners that could be dropped in place along the sides and in the end zone behind the seats as well as from the ceiling. In addition, move the stage to adjust to the expected audience size to minimize empty, relfective seats.

A bandshell behind the stage would help as well to properly direct the sound to the audience.

Good multi-purpose halls are designed to be adjustable for the various purposes.

The million dollars spent on the scoreboard would have been better spent on improving the sound quality for the events that appear to be the money makers for the arena.

I heard Roy Orbison in the second row at the Queen Elizabeth theatre in Vancouver a thousand years ago. The likes of ZZ Top in my mind does not justify $50 million bucks for a PAC. Just so ya know.
Something really creepy about old men rock-n-rolling.
