Prince George, B.C. - The semi-annual Bio-Energy conference will be held June 8th to 10th 2010 and the conference continues to grow.

This year, the Prince George based society which organizes the conference, will join forces with the BC Bioenergy Network, a provincially funded industry-led association which supports the growing bioenergy sector.

The conference will also feature, for the first time,  a parallel program in Emerging Clean Technologies. While bioenergy conference and exhibition will be held at the Civic Centre, the Emerging Clean Technologies program will be underway at the Coast Inn of the North. This will also be the first time there will be indoor and outdoor exhibit space.

Returning to the conference will be the International Partnerships forum and Business to Business meetings co-hosted by the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.

The bioenergy conference  started   in 2004 and attracted 120 delegates from 5 countries. Two years later, the conference had grown to attract 206 delegates from 16 countries, and the third conference in 2008 brought 430 delegates from 20 countries. Its estimated, the delegates to the ’08 conference pumped about $400 thousand dollars into the local economy.
Prince George is considered the heart of the bio-energy industry with Canfor Pulp having the largest biomass to energy system in North America, and the City is in the heart of the fibre basket.

The website for the conference has now been launched and can be accessed at: www.bioenergyconference.org
