Prince George, B.C.- Despite some media reports to the contrary, the RCMP say there is no plan for a significant announcement on the so called Highway of Tears investigation this weekend.
Corporal Annie Linteau of “E” Division Strategic Communications  says investigators will be meeting in Prince George this weekend  with family members of the 18 murdered or missing women who are the subject of the E Pana investigation. “This meeting is part of our on going commitment to keep the victim’s families appraised of any development in the on going investigation,” says Corporal Linteau, “however, we can confirm there is no plan for a significant announcement this weekend.”  Linteau did not clarify what the "development" might be that they will be sharing with the families.
The Vancouver Province reported today that a significant announcement on the investigation would come this weekend.  The story  quotes Mavis Erickson, the Highway of Tears coordinator for the Carrier-Sekani as hinting she expected to hear there would be a public inquiry launched into the cold cases.

Not another public inquiry, can they not come up with anything new to waste our tax dollars with?

Would it not make more sense if you were going to throw a million dollars or so away, why not

- Get a extra 10 police officers driving up and down the road, heck if they were writing up tickets they might even show a profit.

- Put up some signs advising of the risks of hitchhiking, personally I find it hard to believe anyone does not know this but I suppose we must try to inform those who are oblivious to the world.

- Twin Highway 16 from Hinton to Prince Rupert, more traffic along the corridor would provide witnesses, or at least the twinning process will create some employment, and the drive would be so much nicer.

- Build Mr. PG twice as tall as he currently is, that way he can see further to watch out, and be a better tourist attraction at the same time.

Or finally if you really want to spend some tax dollars, why don’t we try to get the 2024 Summer Olympics!
