Former PGSS Teacher Gets 9 months On Child Porn

Prince George- A Former PGSS teacher has been sentenced to 9 months in jail, 3 years probation, ordered to provide a DNA sample, placed on the sex offender registry, barred from being employed with people under 16 and ordered not to come in contact with anyone under the age of 16 on the Internet.

61 year old Michael Gardiner was arrested and charged in March of 2008 following an investigation involving the Prince George Serious Crimes Section and the Toronto Police Sex Crimes Unit.

He Pleaded guilty in court today in Prince George to the charges to possession of and distribution of Child Pornography.

Gardiner was immediately dismissed from his position with PGSS and has not taught since.

Im glad they named him, now maybe a picture too. There are no lower forms of criminals than this.

The sad thing about predators like Gardiner is that being master manipulators they present so well to the public. It is devastating to the people around them when they're caught. Apparently he was well liked by his students and this has hit them hard. I would hope that through the school district and other avenues that students and former students will receive some kind of support to help them through this shock.
And Gardiner's family. Well this is a whole other topic. The devastation goes way beyond the children who were exploited. These predators don't ever stop to think what the consequences of their actions are.
