Prince George, B.C.- The clock is ticking for the demolition of a townhouse complex on Westmount Drive in Prince George.

More than two weeks have passed since City Council passed a motion calling on the owner of the property to demolish the partially constructed complex.   The two week time frame was the window of opportunity for the owner to appeal Council’s decision, but there has been no request for such an appeal.

The Chief Building Inspector visited the site on October 8, 2009.   At that time, he noted the collapse of the walls and floor of one of the four units.

At issue is safety. Although the owner did erect a barricade following the last order from Council, Councilor Murry Krause says the fence is not secure “A child could tear it down” says Krause.

On November 2nd, Council declared the site a nuisance and gave the owner 30 days to demolish the structure and fill in the excavation.

That time limit will expire on December 3rd.    At that time, the City could order the demolition  take place, and present the owner with the bill for the work.

As of Friday of last week, there was no indication the owners will go to court to file an injunction that would prevent the City from demolishing the structure.

A case of 'Tyner-itis'?
MrPg, I do believe it's the same builder.

Amateurs .....
Must have gone bankrupt.
I pause to ask "does poor planning give you poor results"?
I hope the city thinks twice before handing over another building permit to this clown - he obviously does not have the skills necessary to perform his job. He also thinks he is immune from following proper regulations - i.e. starting to build without a permit - come on.......
