Prince George, B.C.-   Northern Health has recorded its first death from H1N1, although the death didn’t actually happen in this region.

A middle aged woman, who was a resident of the north east region of Northern Health, died in a hospital in Edmonton  within the past two weeks. Northern Health Spokesperson, Eryn Collins says the woman had multiple underlying conditions and lab tests confirmed the woman had H1N1.

One case is still under investigation.

" multiple underlying conditions"

There's the tip off!
That does seem to be the problem,
though
I was really sick for about 10 days with it and it was a battle so yes it is an evil little bug..
Thankfully I managed to stay at home and got well...
I have gotten my shot and I got sick for a couple of days, thus my assumption I already had a flu beforehand. I got both the h1n1 and the seasonal flu shot.

I think the h1n1 is going to be coming at us on full force in fall of 2011 when our guards are down. Likely there will be a lack of vaccine and it will fly thru us like wild fire. It will not kill all, but it will not surprise me if the rate hits, 1 in a 1000.

One might say, one in a thousand is low, but that will be 4500 in BC alone.

I hope it will not happen, but you never know.

He has spoken......

Are you kidding me. 1 in a 1000. This is a ridiculous number to just grab and throw out there.
The vaccines take up to two weeks to take full effect in your body. You can still get either flu in that time, and in fact can get either one after that. The vaccine is supposed to make it harder to get, not impossible. For an added bonus, it is supoosed to make it easier to fight off aterwards.
You should take a look at the amount off people that die world wide of the normal flu, nevermind H1N1. This will run its course just like any other. Its been around for a while and the media finally got the ball going this year....good for you for falling for the hype.
1 in a 1000....sheesh
"underlying health conditions".....isn't it great how they throw that out. Half of PG has asthma and probably 2/3 are overweight. All these count as "underlying health conditions".

Your right but that isn't justification for a vaccine. It means that 2/3 of people in PG need to get off the couch and do something about THEIR health status instead of pointing fingers at the government or the medical community to "save" them.
