Second Arrest Made in Connection with Death of Child

Prince  George, B.C.-A  second arrest has been  made  in the wake  of the death of a 21 month old  New Hazelton boy.

It was  June 3,  when  New Hazelton RCMP and Emergency Health Services  attended a residence in New Hazelton, for an unresponsive 21 month old male, Jor-el Wale. The child was immediately transported to Wrinch Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

RCMP North District Major Crime Unit assisted by the New Hazelton RCMP investigated the death of the boy.  Initially the death was treated as suspicious, further investigation and a Forensic Autopsy  determined the child died as a result of injuries sustained at the hands of another person. This elevated the investigation to a homicide.

On June 11, 2009, a male was arrested by the Major Crime Unit for the Murder of Wale. The male  is a young person and can not be identified.

Police now advise that on  Friday,November 27, 2009, Marion Joan Sampson was arrested and charged with Accessory After The Fact to Murder and Obstructing Justice in relation to the death of 21  month old Jor-el. Sampson  was the care giver of the victim at the time of his death. She was scheduled to appear in Supreme Court this morning November 30, 2009 in Smithers, BC.
