Prince George- Light Middle Weight Boxing Champ Harold Mann and Brett Connolly of the Cougars will be honoured at Friday’s Cougars game.
The Cougars are proud to welcome Light Middle Weight Boxing Champion, Harold Mann, to drop the puck as they take on the Kootenay Ice that evening. Mann, a Prince George resident, won the title when he competed in the British Commonwealth Games in 1962. He also took home gold at the Canadian Amateur Boxing Championships in 1958, 1961, and 1962.
The celebration of local athletes will continue as Mayor Dan Rogers presents #8, Brett Connolly, with a gold medal from this summer’s Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament. Connolly played for Canada’s Summer Under-18 squad in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, getting an assist in Canada’s championship game. There were no medals presented at the tournament, but Hockey Canada has provided gold medals for the players who took part in the Ivan Hlinka Tournament, which Connolly will receive Friday
