Do i understand this right? City taxes fund the buses, bus service gives rides for food, thus , in essence forgoing the price of the fare for food of indeterminate value, and then donates the food to charity. Couldnt we cut out the middle men here and just donate the tax dollars directly to the poor?
Problem, kind of eliminates the participation factor.
Most of the people who ride buses need to keep the food that they have. There is no shortage of food donations in this town. In fact I would say that it is somewhat over done.

Seems the left hand doesnt know what the right hand is doing.

Save-on-Foods delivered 25000lbs of food to the Salvation Army store at Parkhill Centre to-day.

Salvation Army advertisement in the Citizen entreats you to buy dinners for the needy. $2.95 dinner for one, $11.80 Dinner for four, $29.50 dinner for family of ten, and $118.00 Dinner for 40 People.

Salvation Army target this year for donations to their kettle program is $232,000.00.

There are many other food donation programs being run at this time, in addition to all the other charitable organizations like St. Vincent De Paul, Hamper programs etc;

So I guess the question is. How many needy people are there in Prince George, and what is the Government doing about it.

Where can I buy a really good in bath tub bath mat? Not from China. They are cheap and crappy. Help. Or is this the cheap and crappy future we have to behold?
Have you looked at using spray on?
The bus company should split the donations between Salvation army and St Vincents. Both are in need of donations and to be fair to both.
I agree DPJ, why are we funding one, and not the other? They are both worthy orginizations!

But we are Prince George, "RED NECK CAPITAL OF THE WORLD", don't you know?
What participation? You arent giving to charity, you are buying a service with food. Thats not charity, not from the riders. It' actually the opposite, since it makes folks feel like they are donating when they actually are not. Less likely that they will give something for nothing in the future when they can 'give' in exchange for something of equal or greater value.
Yup. redneck, thats why its the salvation army not saint vincents. I AM a redneck and i dont know the relevant difference between the two. Neither do most working folks with red necks i suspect, so why not save the vitriol? Or send it to an MP in vancouver, i hear they listen to such nonsense about us down there.
Prince George = Red neck capital. I totally agree with this.
Thanks gus. I will read the label on the spray on to see if it also is from china. I think we are in trouble finding and buying anything not made in China. Sorry fer being off topic, folks.
